As part of the collaboration between Eric Dyck and mo.go.po.mo, we are happy to announce The Thistles Embroidered Patch! This year is our celebration of the 1924 Lethbridge Thistles women’s hockey team. With the help of the University of Lethbridge’s Dr. Carly Adams, and the Galt Museum & Archive, we were able to cobble together information about the starting line-up for one of Lethbridge’s earliest hockey teams. Unfortunately, men’s hockey has enjoyed far more prestige and it’s history is far better represented in publications and museums. Very little is known about Lethbridge’s women’s teams, and to our knowledge, there are no artifacts or memorabilia of pre-war women’s teams to be found. In honour of the women and girls persisting at the sports they love, we have designed a colour palette and new logo for the Lethbridge Thistles!
